Menstruation education PSA produced at the 19th annual International Youth Media Summit in Stonetown, Zanzibar, Tanzania.
A teenage girl seeks advice for navigating her first period, but is met with the generational stigma that still surrounds menstruation. It's only through an interaction with her informed peer that she learns of access to menstrual education within her community.
Just Friends (2024)
A night-out in a drag bar re-opens old wounds when an ex-girlfriend introduces her former partner as ‘just a friend’.
LGBTQ+ microshort funded by the BFI Film Academy and Chapter Arts Centre as part of the regional microshort film fund.
'Just Friends' premiered on 17th May 2024 at LezDiff International Film Festival. It was shortlisted as a finalist for the Chapter Queer Short Film Prize 2024.
Live After Death (2023)
It's summer 2003, and a young guitarist struggles with his anxiety before a gig. As strange events occur, the band must learn to support each other to play the gig of their lives.
A short drama made for the BBC, through the It's My Shout training scheme. Broadcast on BBC TWO on 13/12/2023. Available to watch on iPlayer now.
Currently the highest-rated It's My Shout short film on IMDB! Nominated for 'Best Drama', 'Best Screenplay', 'Best Actor', 'Best Supporting Actress', 'Best Ensemble Cast', and 'Best Composer' at the 2024 It's My Shout Awards.
BYSTANDER (2023)
A young woman goes for a jog throughout her city and comes face to face with instances of discrimination. She faces one of the hardest choices: whether to speak up or not.
An IYMS 'Discrimination PSA' made for the 18th International Youth Media Summit held in La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA. The film was made by creatives and changemakers from 6 countries (Tanzania, Vietnam, Nepal, USA, UK, Belgium) to raise awareness on speaking up when people see different forms of discrimination. The film was shot with minimal budget and equipment over 2 days, and edited over 2 days.
BYSTANDER has screened at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles & on Piccadilly Lights in Piccadilly Circus, the largest screen in Europe.
Best Student (2022)
A Primary School leavers' mug becomes the symbol of a student's identity as she struggles to reconcile academic pressure from her mother with her own artistic ambitions.
Funded by Chapter Arts Centre and the BFI Film Academy, Best Student is Rebs' first funded short film. Over 75% of crew come from under-represented groups (women, identifying as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, or neurodivergent/disabled).
Cariad (2020)
After gambling on a surprise New Year's kiss, a young woman invokes the Welsh lovespoon tradition to declare her love for her best friend.
Filmed during the Welsh firebreak lockdown in October/November 2020, Cariad was conceptualised as part of writer/director Rebs' involvement on the E.D.E.N. Digital project for LGBTQ+ filmmakers. Cariad was filmed entirely in Cardiff, South Wales with no budget and a guerrilla crew due to COVID-19 restrictions.
